Gramajo's Corner
GM. Been a bit, previous week I took it off as it was somewhat of a holiday here in the USA. Let's dive in!
Final reminder, collect your POAPs. I will be doing raffles on POAPs shortly so you will want to make sure you have yours. You can enter an email or wallet and then it will get airdropped. Easy peasy! The items being raffled are Pixelsymphony Physical pieces from their latest collection. I may do other stuff like Pokemon/area51 pins as we get closer to the end of the year. If you need help, reach out to me directly!
Farcon was announced for 2025 in NYC, May 1st-4th. I will be going and want to schedule either a happy hour, dinner or both. If you are interested in attending my meet up, please sign up here. The cost to attend will be free, using the sign up to gauge interest and what type of event to do.
I will be sunsetting my Discord server for Telegram. The upkeep and maintenance is easier for me on Telegram vs Discord. Most of my building will happen over at /area51. Telegram will be used mostly as a saloon and behind the scenes work.
On the content front. I started an experiment of doing a lofi daily podcast, titled Onchain Daily. I will cover the lastest news, prices and art in the last 24 hours, M-F. Let me know what you think of this and if you have any feedback.
Lastly, this week I will be launching my latest episode of Behind The Screen with Noah Bragg, the creator of /stokefire. A bootstrapped web3 game that got started on Farcaster but now is making the waves over in Twitter.
Web3 Insights
I tend to not cover pfp projects here but for this type of occasion where web3 crosses over this hard into web2 land, I have to. Doodles is collabing with McDonalds and they are doing this proper. From cups, merch, enamel pins (which I am sucker for) and more. Bravo to the doodles team for this and I don't even like McDonalds but may need to stop by and show some support.
Opensea is teasing their V2. Say what you want about Opensea but they still control and demand a ton of attention when it comes to NFT marketplaces. This is a very hard market to disrupt and Blur has done some of this for sure, but I am curious to see what V2 will bring as we have lost a couple of other marketplaces in the last couple of years which should bolster/solidfy Opensea's first mover advantage.
Moxie announced, Moxie Earn. Which is a ad/promotion platform built on top of Farcaster and Moxie. I am still on the fence about this and how it works based on some of the behavior I saw when it came live. But I am intrigued and optimistic this will get refined and become better. If you really think about it ads right now are everywhere, unless you have an adblocker and sometimes if you even have them on you get popups telling you to turn them off so this is an interesting place to compete in. Content in general has been free on web2 to consume with the idea that selling ads can make up the difference. With web3 this has changed, much of the content is free as well but the streamlined aspect of users being able to monetize and also port over their followers to other apps makes it harder for launch an ad network imo. But I do think there is a place for ads and nailing a web3 version of this is a big market. Watching this one develop from afar.
Market Insights
In the last two weeks/since the election here in the USA:
BTC has gone up 30%
ETH 16%
SOL 46%
Your blood pressure 150/90 lol
This doesn't even cover the memecoins which in their own right have gone NUTS. There was a token I was in and following that at one point was up 56,000% which is obscene. This is a reminder to take care of yourself, always remember to take your principal out, if you have been here since the last run, I hope you have learned a lot about yourself the last couple of years and you are ready for this moment.
AI agents have been the rage these past two weeks. With the launch of Aether an autonomous bot over in Farcaster, to Bleu, mferbot and more. With onchain data being open and public these bots are are able to do quite a bit without human interventions which is crazy to see unfold. I even brought this up at work to a couple of colleagues who are leading the AI front at my company and even they were intrigued by the craziness. Not to be undone by onchain agents, Stripe has released a way for AI agents to be able to do more on their own but still a notch below what you can onchain imo.
Over on the art side of things ACK piece The Mad Pianist sold for 14ETH. As well as another piece for 6ETH. Like the previous cycle of money moving from PFP to Art, I see this cycle doing similar behavior except memecoin to art. I know I am personally guilty of this myself. This seems a bit more evident to me based on the demand of Cryptopunks.
Sons of The West by Jeremy Booth sold for 3.2ETH.
I saw this post from Nounswap that got me thinking about incentives and opensource code and if it all works out. Definitely will be going down this rabbit hole so if you know anyone who contributes to opensource web3 projects, let me know. I want to speak with them.
Everything Else
Ripcache this week has a piece going for auction titled Dead Pixel and this piece is absolutely fire. Fully onchain via Ordinals and comes with a physical. Check out the link for more info but if my memecoin bag was fully baked I would sell it all for this piece.
There has been a trend recently of people launching website, products and tools using SSH. From coffee to shirts to now art. Yungwknd's latest drop Meet Me in Marfa does exactly this. It is a really neat concept and something I would like to deploy one day in the future. Yungwknd continues to not miss and makes me bullish on his work.
I found this piece by Dan from the icebreaker team really enlightening on how onchain attestations work right now and how they are thinking about them. There is a formal attestation services called EAS (Ethereum Attestation Services) which wants to be the defactor attestion format but Dan gave some great insight as to why for now they are taking a different path and as someone who has to work with data constantly I can see why Dan is choosing to use Farcaster as the attestation vs formatting it to EAS. As an example, when I look at EAS one, I can't really read what is being attested but if a cast says, "gramajo is gud at content" it is really easy to read/understand and if the cast itself is onchain, do we need to format it to something else? Definitely worth a read.
PopWonder drops a new piece
