Farcaster is a hub of crypto experiments. I've found myself trying something new each week. This is my attempt to log those experiences.
Alfaca
alfaca is the latest product by @ace and @peter. It is still in early stages. It is a bot that helps you log and discover alphas from farcaster. The workflow is fairly straightforward. If you want to share an alpha, all you have to do is cast following
calling @alfaca on <TICKER> <CA>

Right now, that’s all it does. I’ve been scrolling through alpha calls on @alfaca’s Farcaster handle (check casts and replies). It’s an interesting idea, and I think the team is working on making alpha discovery and trading easier.
One big challenge is the lack of a public scorecard for alpha calls. People often ape into tokens just because someone with clout mentions them. A scorecard could help cut through the noise and highlight real signals. I’m excited to see what they launch.
Bolide
Bolide is trying to make it simple for people to trade meme coins. You can install their app, onramp through Apple Pay, Credit Card, or Debit Card, and then start trading memecoins.
Today, most of the people, interesting in trading memecoins do that on Centralized Exchanges. They are limited by the ones that are listed there. Apps like Bolide and Moonshot (on Solana) make them accessible through an easy to use experience.
There recently launched an integration with Clanker that allows users to launch a clanker token right from the Bolide App. (I couldn't find it on the app I've and seems to be web only feature for now.) To celebrate this collab, they launched a $BOLIDE token through Clanker. It is currently sitting at a market cap of $2.23 Million. Founder OX Bid and the Bolide team had been working in the space for a while now.
They launched Bolide in March of 2024 and by year end had scaled it to 2K Weekly Active Users and over $2 Million of volumes. If you haven't yet, check the app out.
Yo
A decade back, a dead simple app called Yo was launched on iPhone App Store. The App did one thing - send Yo to a contact. Stephan has launched a nifty frame that sends Yo to your folks.

What I'm upto
I have been working on a research exercise to understand how people of farcaster trade on Base. Lot of interesting insights and nuggets of wisdom. Planning to post it sometime next week. Stay tuned.
